Catholics constantly express to me how happy they are with Pope Francis. They express appreciation, and it seems they feel connected with him. His work and words motivate people to inquire about the Catholic Church and Catholics feel more proud of themselves. His approachability helps the faithful reconnect with the truths of their faith, to understand things they couldn’t before and serve in new ways. Those who are already very active have gained a new apostolic zeal.

There’s a little more vibrancy, it’s easier to follow the direction of Pope Francis because of the way he is using media, the way he is using opportunities. He is brief, concrete, direct to the point, profound. And he is a genuinely happy man, always smiling, staying close to the people. He is inviting us, leaders in the church, to reach out to others in new ways, to be more embracing, based on witness and a personal relationship with the Gospel and Christ.
